2020 D.C. General Election Information

Ballots should begin arriving the first week of October. If you haven't received your ballot by October 21, make a plan to vote in person during early voting or on Election Day.

Once you've voted, you can mail it back via the postage-paid envelope (the ballot must be postmarked no later than Election Day, November 3); drop it in a ballot drop box; or drop it off at any early voting site from October 27 - November 2 or polling place on Election Day. • If you are not registered and missed the October 13 deadline to register and recieve a ballot to vote by mail, you can still register to vote during in-person early voting during Election Week (October 27 - November 2) or on Election Day (November 3). 16 Early Voting Centers opened on Tuesday, October 27 and will be open through Monday, November 2, 2020, from 8:30 am - 7:00 pm. See the early voting locations on this map >>

This year, you can vote at any polling place in D.C. Polling places will be open from 7:00 am - 8:00 pm on Election Day, November 3. See this map to find a place to vote on Election Day >>

For D.C. residents experiencing homelessness who do not have a valid D.C. ID, you can instead use as proof of residence:

• a government check or paycheck
• bank statement
• current utility bill
• homeless shelter occupancy statement
• government check with their name and address, or
• a letter from a government agency or social service provider with: name, DOB, and a mailing address (could be agencies)
