Anastacia “Stacia” Wallis (she/her) is Executive Assistant to ACLU-DC Executive Director Monica Hopkins.

Prior to joining the ACLU-DC team in January 2021, Stacia worked in nearly every role for Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP), a global nonprofit that serves a grassroots network of thousands of young drug policy reform activists. Stacia worked for SSDP for over 11 years, spending seven of those years as Deputy Director. She became a drug policy reform activist in 2006 after being arrested for less than a gram of cannabis at the University of Maryland.

During her time as an undergrad, Stacia testified before the Maryland state legislature on several occasions regarding bills dealing with financial aid eligibility, felony voter disenfranchisement, mandatory minimum sentences, medical marijuana, and Good Samaritan practices, among others. While working at Students for Sensible Drug Policy, Stacia found her passion for behind-the-scenes administrative and operations work, and oversaw a 400% growth of the staff and membership. She remains involved with SSDP in a mentor and volunteer capacity.

Stacia is the captain emerita of The One Hitters, a co-ed congressional league softball team comprised of DC drug policy reformers and friends. She joined the team during her time as an SSDP intern in 2006, and served as co-captain from 2012-2015. Stacia has been playing softball for more than 25 years, and is very proud of her 6 home runs.
